The
intY Concept
The
intY Server is a PC based internet communications device that offers a
whole host of valuable capabilities. It is capable of managing the whole
of your internet usage, and in doing so it minimises risk from internet
threats, maximises your control over access and costs, and allows secure
and cost-effective connection between remote sites using the internet
rather than costly leased lines.
The whole
package is maintained and supported by intY via the internet, and the
contract includes a replacement unit within 24 hours if there is an irrecoverable
fault.
The main
features of the intY server are:
The
intY Managed Service
What
really sets the intY solution apart from the competition, is the fact
that this excellent product is supplied with a top-class support service.
This service runs from the very start of the relationship between your
business and LSA Technology, and runs throughout the contract. This
service is called the 'intY managed service' because it assumes responsibility
to manage all elements of the solution, from hardware and software,
to upgrades, maintenance and configuration. It is through this service
that we manage to achieve our ultimate aim - to supply our customers
with the best technology in a trouble-free package.
An outline of the
main features of the managed service is given below:
-
Installation
- an accredited engineer will install the intY server.
-
Configuration
- the administration system is configured along with the user
and administrator workstations.
-
Training
- the whole installation/configuration process acts as a training
session for the chosen administrator of the intY system.
-
Maintenance
- the hardware will be replaced within one working day in the
rare event of an unrecoverable fault.
-
Software

CheckMark
certified Firewall security
For
today's businesses, information is an asset of great value. Every business
must consider Internet security as a critical issue. Unlike many router-only
and small office Internet solutions, which require the purchase of a
separate firewall package, intY has its firewall built in. This ensures
that an organisation's data is secure from the outside world, and that
the organisation has complete control over who can gain access. It prevents
unauthorised access from the Internet onto the Local Area Network and
allows users to browse the web concurrently according to their access
rights. It checks incoming packets of information and decides whether
or not they should be allowed onto the network.
The
firewall comes pre-configured with maximum security settings, which
can be tailored using the intY administration tools. If desired, the
intY's firewall can be easily configured to allow different levels of
access throughout an organisation. It has been put through a rigorous
programme of tests by CheckMark, a leading independent Internet security
firm.

Protect
your assets from virus attack
Today, business
is driven by information. It is THE most valuable asset and
should be protected wherever possible. Email has emerged as the key
method of communication in the 21st century. However, the vast majority
of viruses are transmitted through this medium, so it is vital to scan
incoming emails for the presence of viruses. Scanning at the Internet
level, before the email is even delivered to your network, has been
shown to be one of the most effective ways of protecting an organisations'
networks and systems against attack.
MailDefender
is an Internet-based anti-virus service that utilises Sophos technology
to scan emails at the Internet level. Customers' inbound and outbound
email goes through intY's central servers and is scanned by the Sophos
virus engine for the presence of known viruses. Once cleared, it is
given a second level of scanning by intY's proprietory scanner, intYscan,
which uses artificial intelligence to decide whether an email has a
suspicious attachment.
If an email is
blocked at either stage, it is quarantined and a notification is sent
to the recipient asking whether they want to receive the suspicious
email.
MailDefender
is automatically updated with the latest virus specifications every
5 minutes by the Sophos central servers.

Email
to every user in an organisation
The
intY server can handle all internal and external email for your business.
This offers all the well-known benefits of email communication, for
example, rapid response to customers and prospects, and quick and easy
exchange with colleagues, suppliers and business partners.
The
intY sends and receives email using SMTP and POP3, the open standards
for email protocols on the Internet. This ensures that organisations
have a reliable email solution that can develop alongside their own
growth.

Managed
access to the Internet
The
intY servers web browsing capability gives internet access to your entire
organisation. However, we recognise that some people may abuse unlimited
Internet access. For this reason the intY administration system has
been designed to give organisations total control over access rights,
making it possible to restrict access on an individual, machine, group
or time basis - users can be denied access altogether, be given full
access rights, or be restricted to certain sites or Internet access
at particular times.
Additional
advanced web filtering is available for intY. N2H2 filtering, voted
the number 1 web filter by the US Department of Justice works with intY
to provide additional controls over Internet access.
Many
organisations need to be able to report on Internet usage, even if they
offer unrestricted access to employees. intY includes a full management
reporting facility, which maintains a log of all sites visited and attempts
made to access unauthorised sites. Each user can have his/her own individual
profile.

Access to those based away from your company
network
With
intY remote access, being out of the office needn't mean being out of
the loop.
As
an optional feature, you can choose to allow your remote workers to
gain access to your company's central network from any location, allowing
them to securely retrieve email and files, share documents and access
resources on the internal network. If desired, mobile workers who do
not have access to a PC at all times can have emails sent to them via
SMS to their mobile phone.
From
a business perspective this enables employees to be as productive out
of the office as they are at their own desks. Within an education environment,
this allows pupils to access internal curriculum resources from home,
which is particularly useful for homework or during periods of extended
absence.
The
intY server will integrate with an existing Microsoft NT domain, meaning
that setting up remote accounts on the intY couldn't be easier. The
intY synchronises itself with the primary domain controller (the system
that contains all the user information on your network) copying across
user data if required.

Sharing
information
intY includes web
servers for Internet, Intranet and Extranet web publishing. Front Page
Extensions are supported by the intY server, and allows your organisation
to publish information quickly and simply.
Also included is
intYsync™, a service that allows live sites to be updated dynamically
without having to take the site off line. Changes are made to a copy
of the site off line and the changes are uploaded to the live site with
the touch of a button.
As your ISP, intY
will host your Extranet site, which is a secure area where confidential
information can be shared with partner organisations, suppliers etc.

Connecting
remote locations - Virtual Private Network
There are obvious
benefits to linking the computer networks at your company's remote sites
so that employees at all sites can share information and work from the
same central files. Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology
allows communication between these sites using the Internet as the carrier,
rather than expensive leased lines.
In essence, VPN
allows your organisation to use the Internet as though it were a Wide
Area Network connecting sites together, offering all the benefits of
linking sites together at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods.
intYlink VPN provides
all members of an organisation with controlled access to centrally-held
data whether they are in the office, at home or on the road. The whole
system is protected from unauthorised access by a continually upgraded
firewall, and all data is encrypted when it is transmitted across the
Internet to ensure its security.
With the intY managed
service all locations in a VPN can be managed remotely, negating the
need for a dedicated technical resource in each location. Version 4,
the newest version of the intY service, now includes three different
methods of data encryption: IP-Sec, the industry standard VPN protocol,
Microsoft's encryption method PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunnelling Protocol),
and intY's own proprietary system.

Help
and advice when it's needed
The support offered
by intY commences on installation. An accredited intY engineer installs
the intY server onto your company's network, configures the system using
a web browser and runs through a set of system checks, including the
configuration of the email client and the user's workstations.
The entire process,
which takes no longer than half a day, acts as an on-line training session
for your chosen intY system administrator who, within a couple of hours,
will be able close down and restart the intY, and carry out standard
configuration activity and user maintenance.
Throughout the
whole period of contract, intY's technical support team is on hand to
answer any intY related queries - an optional 24/7 support package is
also available if required. intY have invested heavily in the support
side of their business because they understand that this is the key
component of the service they provide.
In the unlikely
event of hardware problems, you will receive a preconfigured replacement
intY server within one working day.
